Dr.  Leigh focused on contemporary models of leadership, which he calls inclusive leadership. He described the evolution of this concept, the task of leaders and the nature of their activities as opposed to management. “Leadership involves gathering willing people so that an organization could work effectively,” said the speaker. A task for a leader, according to Dr.  Leigh Quesnel, is to respond to changing environment. “In our environment the key to survival is the presence of a wide range of ideas and proposals, i.e. the ability to adapt to change."

The lecturer also shared basic principles of leadership, identified questions that must be answered by a leader along with his/her team before deciding which direction to take. “It’s essential for a leader to ensure Inclusion,” summed up Dr.  Leigh

At the end of the lecture, the students could ask questions and discuss the role of leadership in society.

The co-organizers of the meeting were the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University and the Sociology and Social Work Department of Lviv Polytechnics National University.

Dr. Leigh Quesnel is going to visit Ukraine this autumn and take part in the 5th Ecumenical Social Week in Lviv as an expert in training contemporary leaders.

Dr. Leigh Quesnel is a clinical psychologist and leading consultant to organizations. He has 30-year experience in consulting, wishing to support organizations in the making. He taught at the University of Winnipeg and Manitoba at the Commercial School and the Department of Psychology.
