2010-12-23 16:15

Its aim is to emphasize their importance in society, to share experiences, to strengthen communication and cooperation between the Church, NGOs, educational institutions, government and businesses, and to actively involve charity foundations and philanthropists from Ukraine and from abroad for the sake of developing the volunteer movement in Ukraine. Project benefits: one can search initiatives by Ukraine's regions and according to themes. The database is regularly updated and renewed. One hundred successful initiatives were included in the collection, published on a DVD and distributed among Ukrainian and foreign participants of the 3rd Ecumenical Social Week.

On 7 October 2010, the project and the three best initiatives from various regions of Ukraine were presented at the round table. The main speaker was the director of the Carpathian Foundation, Ruslan Zhylenko. He explained how their fund supports the reform of social services in western Ukraine. It supports the development of private social services, small and eco-tourism businesses, and community development. The foundation offers grants as well as conducts project activities. The director of the IES, Antoine Arjakovsky, is the president of the prestigious jury of “The observatory of successful initiatives,” which meets twice a year to select successful initiatives and to update the electronic database of the site.
