2022-05-06 14:15

On April 13 and May 4, 2022, students of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy of the OCU and the Lviv Theological Seminary of the Holy Spirit of the UGCC took part in joint cademic seminars. During the first meeting, the document of the Ecumenical Patriarchate “For the Life of the World” was presented by the Greek Catholics, and at the next meeting the Orthodox studied the Encyclical “Fratelli tutti” of Pope Francis. The events and active discussions were moderated by Andriy Smyrnov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the National University Ostroh Academy. The participants came to the conclusion that both documents raise important issues concerning the life and work of the Church in the world, and the constructive proposals that have been written down can be applied by all Christian denominations.

It will be recalled that the aim of the project is to create an atmosphere of openness, dialogue and friendship between students of the UGCC and the OCU through joint work on Catholic and Orthodox documents.

The project is implemented within the framework of the competition of mini-grants “Joint Initiatives to Promote Ecumenical Cooperation” of the UCU Institute of Ecumenical Studies and the French charitable organization L'Œuvre d'Orient.
