She is the secretary of the association “Dialogue between the Orthodox Church and the Eastern (Oriental) Orthodox Churches.” The guest from Switzerland told about the origin of monastic life in the Coptic Church and the first monks in Syria and Egypt. She also explained why the Coptic, Syrian, Ethiopian, and Armenian Churches are Eastern (Oriental) Churches.

Christine Chaillot also noted the great role of the Syrian Orthodox Church, and she dedicated a great part of her lecture to the relations of Christians and Muslims in the Middle East. She stated the fact that Christians have serious problems in Iraq and Egypt. Finally, she said: “We must always read the Scripture that tells us ‘to all be one, as thou, Father art in me and I in Thee, that they were united in us’ (John 17.21).” That is why ecumenical dialogue is so important, especially in places where people have suffered much, as in Ukraine.
