During the Meeting, the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church is represented by the Head and Father of UGCC Svyatoslav (Shevchuk), the Bishop of Wroclaw-Koszalin Eparchy Volodymyr (Yushchak), Exarch of Kharkiv Vasyl (Tuchapets), the Bishop of the Curia of UGCC, Stepan (Sus) and Canonic of the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Major, the Bishop Irynei (Bilyk).

The Meeting attendees include The Melkite Greek-Catholic Patriarch of Antioch Youssef (Absi), president of the Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, secretary of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches, Archbishop Georgio Demetrio Gallaro, metropolitans, bishops and representatives of the Eastern Catholic Churches in Europe.

During the discussion on the first day of the Meeting, His Beatitude Sviatoslav described the liturgical life of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church during the Covid pandemic. The UGCC Head drew a parallel between the Eucharist service during the hard underground church period and the “Eucharistic hunger”, that parishioners suffer during the pandemic.

September 7, Pavlo Smytsnyuk addressed the attendees of the Meeting and delivered a speech “Eucharistic Practice of the UGCC: Underground Church, Covid and missio ecumenica for Eastern Catholics”.

September 8, to celebrate the closing of the academic part of the Meeting, His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk will deliver a speech “Practical Aspects of Synodality”.
