HISTORIOGRAPHICAL PROBLEMS AND ECUMENICAL PROSPECT OF THE KYIVAN CHURCH: WHAT DO WE EXPECT?

2019-05-17 18:15

On Wednesday, May 22, a seminar of the Ukrainian Christian Academic Society "The Idea of the Kyivan Church: Vision and Reception" will be held at the Sophia Kyivska National Reserve. The event is being held within the framework of the 12th Ecumenical Social Week "Responsibility VS Populism", which will take place in the capital during May 21-22, 2019.

 Time: 3.00-6.00 pm

Location: The Sophia Kyivska National Reserve (Metropolitan's House, 24, Volodymyrska St.).

Organizer: Institute of Ecumenical Studies at the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv).

Co-organizers of the Forum: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Department of Culture of the Executive Board at the Kyiv City Council, St. Thomas Aquinas Institute of Religious Sciences, Open Orthodox University of St. Sophia the Wisdom.

The Ukrainian Christian Academic Society is open to scholars of all Christian traditions represented in Ukraine. The Society is called to reflect on the purpose of the Kyivan Church, an issue that is still poorly understood in Ukraine and the world. The uniqueness of the Kyivan Church means to preserve a living tradition, despite the painful historical circumstances and the confessional divisions of the modern era.

"For this year's seminar, we propose the theme: "The Idea of the Kyivan Church: Vision and Reception" and would like to consider the ecclesiastical and liturgical traditions, historiographical issues and ecumenical perspective of the Kyivan Church," says Taras Dmytryk, responsible secretary of the Ukrainian Christian Academic Society.

We invite You to participate in the discussion during the seminar

Participation in all Forum activities is free of charge. More information on http://www.ecumenicalstudies.org.ua
